What is Qi? Discover the Life Force Energy and How Qigong Helps You Harness It
So in teaching Qigong, a common question is, “What is this Qi?”
It’s essentially vital life force energy.
It surrounds every organ and then surrounds also your body.
It also surrounds things in nature.
I like to think of it as kind of a sparkling golden light, and you can see it in action.
What color is Qi?
It radiates the essential, primal colors of whatever it’s within.
You can even say our own sun is the source of most of the Qi here on Earth.
In India it’s called “prana”. And in science, it’s called the “bioelectromagnetic field”.
When our Qi is strong, we glow.
And what’s amazing about us humans is we’re actually able to cultivate this life force energy, this Qi, and that’s what Qigong is all about.
With Qigong, you can clear the negative, stagnant Qi that is collected from negative emotions, and you can bring in fresh, new energy from nature and from within your own system. Actually, as in the east, they refer to our own bodies as medicine chests.
It’s all just a matter of knowing how to tap into that medicine. It’s waiting to be released within us.
Oftentimes, it does come involuntarily, you know, in the last minute. But it’s great to be able to know how to harness it and cultivate it to prevent things before they happen.
And the best place for humans to store Qi is in the lower dan tian, which is about 2 inches below your belly button and a few inches into the core of your body. That’s why you’ll see martial art masters putting their hands over this spot to increase their energy, because that is basically our storehouse of physical energy.
We also store it here (lungs), a lot in here (forehead), but it’s best stored here (2 inches below your belly) to power our immune system, and then it can be picked up in these other areas when needed.
And so Qigong will help you create this central bank, this storage system within your body to heal and become radiant in very aspect of life.
